Skin Biology Assays
Investigate Effects of Test Compounds on Skin
Customized Research Programs
GainMed provides products, expertise and services to support development of cosmetic and pharmaceutical products, as well as to assess risks of skin exposure to other chemicals. From initial donor-specific tissue acquisition to full thickness skin testing or 3D skin equivalents, the GainMed research team designs and implements dermal research programs to accelerate clients’ projects and help them meet their objectives.
Cosmetic Screening
Assess active ingredients and additives
GainMed provides cosmetic screening assays to identify active ingredients and additives with beneficial properties in cosmeceutical products. Using our human adipocyte cell system, dermal fibroblasts, keratinocytes, and melanocytes we investigate the effects of natural products, extracts, and compounds for their use in diminishing the signs of aging, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, and protecting skin from environmental stressors.
Ex Vivo Skin Assays
Assess the effects of test compounds on human skin
GainMed provides cosmetic screening assays to identify active ingredients and additives with beneficial properties in cosmeceutical products. Using our human adipocyte cell system, dermal fibroblasts, keratinocytes, and melanocytes we investigate the effects of natural products, extracts, and compounds for their use in diminishing the signs of aging, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, and protecting skin from environmental stressors.
Photobiology Assays
Evaluate protective properties of cosmeceutical products on skin cells and tissue
In vitro photobiology assays at GainMed use primary skin cells, reconstructed human epidermis, or fresh ex vivo skin to model potential protective effects of test compounds when the cells are exposed to UV radiation. Sponsors use data from GainMed’s assays in their product development programs and for claims support in the case of cosmetic products.
Primary Skin Cell Assays
Assess active ingredients and additives
Skin cell-based assays at GainMed use isolated primary human dermal fibroblasts, keratinocytes, melanocytes, and sebocytes cells to test the effects of compounds used in therapeutics, cosmetics and other products. Customized programs are available using primary skin cells.
Standard assays include:
Cytotoxicity Assays
Oxidative Stress Assays (ROS)
Melanogenesis Assay
Elastin And Hyaluronic Acid Production
Collagen Production
Gene Expression
Western Blot Analysis
Migration Assay And Wound Repair
